On the eve of the 50th anniversary of Benjamin Britten’s death, University Music’s Choir and Orchestra come together to remember one of England’s greatest composers.
This poignant programme brings together two deeply moving works: Arvo Pärt’s haunting Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten, written in tribute to the composer, alongside Britten’s much-loved seasonal cantata, St Nicolas — a vivid and powerful portrait of the life, legend and faith of St Nicholas.
A concert of remembrance, reflection and extraordinary music, marking 50 years since the passing of a true giant of English composition.
