Additional information
Storm Brewing is the new project from father and son Magnus and Silas Martin. The band presents a multi-faceted style in the true meaning of the word Progressive ie. developing types of music never heard before. Pieces are often stylistically different from the last, yet all are weaved together to form a soulful, funky twist on prog rock, encompassing influences of contemporary jazz fusion, modern minimalist classical, ambient electronica and trip hop.
Their first gig in the summer of 2025 at the sold out Tarantati Party festival premiered the band in spectacular fashion.
Think Prog-rock, trip-hop, funk soul Magicary
Magnus Martin has been the guitarist, singer and songwriter/composer in Hawkwind for the last 10 years and the band Tarantism for over 30 years.
Storm Brewing was initially formed to perform the solo project “Everything is Singing to me’ by Magnus Martin, (co-produced by Magnus and Silas).
Here’s some of the positive press reactions to the album which was released Dec 2025.-
“Shifting between art-pop, folk, jazzy textures and prog.” Julian Marszalek - Prog Rock Magazine
“It’s a whole album that will grow and grow as the listener is drawn in to each gentle twist and turn”
“Music should move us, should change our mood, should inform how we feel on hearing it and I don’t know a better example than this” Ian Abrahams
“Not only does this album entertain, it also informs and educates. Very Reithian.”
‘A unique and original sound..for the avoidance of doubt - it is xxcking brilliant!” Peppermint Iguana Zine
“Mercurial” Jeremy Lees
However, the group has developed into much more than an personal project for Magnus, featuring a talented and stylistically diverse ensemble delivering constantly evolving live interpretations of tracks from the album, as well as some of Magnus’ deep cuts from his time with Hawkwind. Alongside Magnus is his son Slas, an accomplished multi-instrumentalist in his own right on keys and guitar. Lead vocals are performed by polymath visual artist and singer-songwriter Esme “Stitch”. Magnus’ low-end co-pilot for the best part of 3 decades, Andy Brown features on bass and young percussion prodigy Dylan Clarke features on drums. It’s an exciting blend of youth and experience, brand new music with decades of experience behind it.
The recent tour launching the album took the band to unusual, left field venues culminating in a guerilla ‘happening’ under The Westway in Notting Hill.
